BioMat TGU (Transfer- und Gründerunternehmung)@TTI GmbH was founded by Prof. Dr.-Ing Hanaa Dahy in 2022, based on the concept of BioMat@Stuttgart (2016) at the University of Stuttgart and BioMat@Copenhagen (2022) at the Aalborg University.
Our goal at BioMat is to explore innovative solutions for future sustainable Architecture. The design philosophy of BioMat sees material properties as a design tool, merging the fields of Material Research, Architectural Design, and Digital Fabrication to create feasible sustainable applications for the built environment.

The LightPRO Shell Pavilion is a lightweight structure that combines an active-bending gridshell made of natural fibre biocomposite profiles with a tensile membrane. The resulting system is a combination of two doubly curved surfaces that share a continuous beam outline. The outline is composed of two connected profiles that act as a beam, transferring forces from both systems to three anchor points attached to a superficial foundation.
Students Luis Fresh and Leo Ritter from MML seminar won the 3rd prize at the Concrete Design Competition with their Magnesium Oxychloride Cement chair.
