This acoustic absorber sandwich panel is composed of perforated external natural fibre reinforced biocomposite layers interlocked with the interior honeycomb-core, which is made of the same material. The connection between the external plates and the core is done through interlocking, without the need of using wet permanent connections. The honeycomb-core and the exterior plates are dry-connected through a special interlocking connectors’ design, which allows the user’s interaction with the product. The user can de-assemble the panel and can easily change the size/depth of the core according to his needs. The user interaction with this architectural acoustic absorber does not only allow a social input, but also improves the technical emphasis of the product, depending on the user’s changing needs. The whole product can be recycled and according to the type of bioplastic applied as binder, can be composted in industrial compost conditions, allowing another end-of-life scenario to the product.
